Your presence is needed. For your family. For your community. For Israel. For the Jewish people. But what will happen when you can no longer be there?

A planned gift to the Tidewater Jewish Foundation enables you to be present forever. Whether your gift is used to provide for the needs of the Jewish poor, to assist the elderly, to rescue Jews in need around the world, or to fight anti-Semitism - no matter where or when in the future, you can be there to help.

The Tidewater Jewish Foundation (TJF) strives to build and support our Jewish community, helping to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

Mission

Honoring the values of tzedakah and tikkun olam, the Tidewater Jewish Foundation is dedicated to creating permanent resources to meet the challenges and needs of the Jewish community. The Foundation educates individuals, families and its affiliates on the rewards of philanthropy and facilitates the philanthropic process through planned giving and endowments. Foundation grants and distributions serve the needs of Hampton Roads, the United States, Israel and nations worldwide. Donors partnering with TJF and its Federations and other Affiliates can achieve their philanthropic goals and create their legacy for future generations.

Today's Foundation

;

The Tidewater Jewish Foundation recently surpassed the $100 million goal set for the organization in 2005. This is a milestone for TJF. “New goals and action plans will result in building additional and much-needed endowments to support the community’s growing need,” says TJF President and CEO Philip Rovner.

Last year the Foundation distributed more than $12 million to the community—94 % of which went exclusively to Jewish causes. The average Jewish foundation in this country gives only 66%. TJF’s investment diversification strategy is focused on controlling risk while optimizing investment returns. With a broadly diversified, global stock and bond strategy, including alternative investments and hedge funds, the Foundation earned a 18.1% portfolio gain this year.

Our operations and services can be divided into these general areas: services to affiliates , services to donors, and services to professional advisors.
